1928 : Pierre Amadieu decides to market his own crop of Gigondas produced from his 7 Ha Family wine-farm located in Gigondas.
1945 : He thrives a substantial wine-making activity to cope with rising demand of his wines. Building of a wine-making cellar, digging of an underground cellar ( two levels under the ground) in which bottles are stored and aged. In the meantime, a commercial network is being created in order to follow an increasing demand rising from the catering sector.
1950 : Pierre Amadieu buys a slopped vineyard around the neglected farms named " La Romane " and " La Machotte ", he established his Gigondas Vineyard. He rebuilds and enlarges this domain composed now of 140 Ha where the main traditional grape varieties are cultivated:
Black Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah, and Clairette.
A 500 sheeps flock is created to produce the manure which will be used for the new plantings
1955 : He sets up a cellar to age his wines, this cellar is an old railway tunnel located in Pierrelongue (Drôme). It is now composed of 159 wooden tuns containing 30 Hl each. In the same time, " La Machotte " is being transformed in an ageing cellar (capacity : 2500 Hl in wooden barrels) and in housings for vineyard workers and grape pickers.
1965 : Pierre Amadieu vinifies only his own production, indeed 70 Ha are now 10 years old and more, and start to produce famous wines.
1967 : After commercial studies, Jean-Pierre Amadieu arrives in the company, he helps his father both for commercial and winemaking part.

1971 : Gigondas becomes
a Controlled Appellation Wine. 1200 Ha are concerned by this new legislation,
now, the maximum yield is 35 Hl/ Ha, grapes have to be picked up by hand
and the vinification will be traditional- it corresponds exactly to what
the family has always done.
1976 : Claude Amadieu, Jean-Pierre's younger brother, ends the
vineyard's restructuring. He is now in charge of the agricultural part,
he is also dealing with the nursery. He developed the Vieux Marc de Gigondas
by using the fermented marcs.
1989 : Building of a new winemaking cellar on the Domain in " La
Romane ", a high quality wine is born " Domaine Grand Romane ", wine of
Gigondas partly aged in new wood. The third generation of the family is
arriving : Pierre Amadieu, founder's grandson, engineer in oenology and
agronomy.
2002: Setting in conformity
of our companies ICPE (Installations Classified for the Environmental
protection) and construction of stations of purifications of the effluents
of cellar on our 3 cellars: at the village, in Romane and Machotte.
Today, the family company Pierre Amadieu markets its own production of
Gigondas, Côtes du Rhône (produced with young vines of Gigondas Vineyard),
Côtes du Ventoux ( 10 Ha in Pernes les Fontaines) and other wines from
the Rhône Valley strictly selected and chosen such as: Côtes du Rhône
Villages, Vacqueyras, Tavel, Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, Chateauneuf
du Pâpe, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint Joseph. Sales structures are usually
as follows: 25 % Tasting cellar located in Gigondas, 25 % Restaurants,
15 % Wholesalers, 35 % Exports.
