The family-owned estate vines producing this wine are grown on an old limestone terroir and alluviums typical of the Mont Ventoux where the Mistral tends to slow down its blow.
La Claretière, essentially made with Grenache, is traditionally vinified in our cellar of Gigondas. We research a wine with a particular simplicity with fruits and an elegant structure. Fine, fresh and aromatic, this Côtes du Ventoux is perfectly balanced between red fruits (red and black fruits) and its beautiful structure.
Wine of pleasure, enjoy it without complex in its youth on a friendly meal: fettuccine al pesto, local cooked meats ...
The vineyard of the Côtes du Ventoux includes a long tradition due to the presence of vines since the antiquity. The papers of Caesar and Pline testify of it.
From the Fountain of Vaucluse where Pétrarque dreamed about the beautiful Laure de Noves, to the top of Mont Ventoux he reached through the Abbey of Sénanque, it is easy to imagine the poet Pétrarque walking in vines, stopping here and there to feed its imagination.
During seven centuries, the Comtat Venaissin belong to the Papacy and enrich its wine-producing tradition.
The Controlled Appellation
On the 27th of July 1973 the Controlled Appellation Côtes du Ventoux, became AOC Ventoux in 2008, was created thanks to its quality and typicality. Red, rosé and white wines are made according to a yield of not more than 50 hectoliters per hectare and not less than 11% Vol. of alcohol. Red and rosé wines are produced from Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. For white wines, Clairette, Bourboulenc and white Grenache are the dominant grape varieties.
Terroir
Located on the slopes of the Mount Ventoux (1912m), the Côtes du Ventoux vineyard gets a lot of sun and is sheltered from the northern wind called Mistral. The region extends on 51 villages of the Vaucluse department, East and South East of the Côtes du Rhône.
