Our story begins in 1929, when my grandfather decided to market bottles from the 7 hectares of Gigondas vineyards passed down from generation to generation under the Pierre Amadieu label. He was one of the first to include the name of the appellation on the bottles and, in 1932, won a gold medal at the Paris Agricultural Show.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Gigondas<\/a>, petit village de Provence, est situ\u00e9 entre Vaison-la-Romaine et Carpentras, aux pieds des Dentelles de Montmirail. Perch\u00e9 sur un promontoire, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un village typiquement proven\u00e7al, avec ses petites rues pav\u00e9es et ses maisons de pierres. Les premi\u00e8res traces de l\u2019existence de Gigondas remontent \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque romaine. Un v\u00e9t\u00e9ran d\u2019une l\u00e9gion de Jules C\u00e9sar va venir s\u2019installer \u00e0 cet emplacement. Il \u00e9tait surnomm\u00e9 Jucundus, \u00ab le joyeux \u00bb, donnant ainsi au village le nom Jocundatis, puis Gigondas. Avec la civilisation romaine, c\u2019est aussi la culture de la vigne qui s\u2019installe aux alentours du village. La viticulture \u00e0 Gigondas va traverser l\u2019Histoire jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque moderne.<\/p>\n

Gigondas commence \u00e0 s\u2019imposer en tant que terroir viticole de qualit\u00e9 \u00e0 partir du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. A la cr\u00e9ation des Appellations d\u2019Origine Contr\u00f4l\u00e9e dans les ann\u00e9es 1930, les vins produits \u00e0 Gigondas sont des C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne. En 1966, l\u2019appellation C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne Village Gigondas est cr\u00e9\u00e9e, mais c\u2019est en 1971 qu\u2019elle obtient le statut de Cru de la Vall\u00e9e du Rh\u00f4ne, seulement pour les vins rouges et ros\u00e9s. En 2021, le comit\u00e9 de l\u2019Institut National de l\u2019Origine et de la Qualit\u00e9 (INAO) accepte la demande des vignerons de Gigondas de passer \u00e9galement les vins blancs en Cru Gigondas. Cette d\u00e9cision sera effective \u00e0 partir du mill\u00e9sime 2023.<\/p>\n
