Rh\u00f4ne Valley Crus<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Rh\u00f4ne Valley is one of the oldest vineyards in France. It follows the course of the Rh\u00f4ne, the river that flows southwards as it sees the vines blossoming on both sides of the river. There are two main areas: the Northern Rh\u00f4ne Valley and the Southern Rh\u00f4ne Valley. Both have very distinctive characteristics, starting with their grape variety: Syrah in the North and Grenache in the South. These two areas include the 17 Crus, which are considered as communal appellations, at the top of the hierarchy of Rhodanian wines. History of the Rh\u00f4ne Valley Crus<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Rh\u00f4ne Valley can be considered as the cradle of the Appellations d’Origine Contr\u00f4l\u00e9e. Indeed, in the 1930s Baron Le Roy de Boiseaumarie fought for the recognition of the characteristics of the Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape appellation, before fighting for that of the C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne appellation. He will obtain for these two appellations a strict production regulation.
