A blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah that spent two years in barrel, the 2014 Gigondas le Pas de l’Aigle shows plenty of vanilla and cedar on the nose and some woody tannins on the palate, but those should resolve with short-term cellaring. It’s medium to full-bodied, with decent concentration, attractive cherry fruit and a firm finish that should start to soften within a few years.
