Aged in foudres and older barrels, the 2018 Vinsobres Les Piallats is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. It’s distinctively spicy and gamy, with notes of pepper, clove and leather making a substantial impression, backed by mixed berries and horse liniment. Medium to full-bodied, it boasts a fine framework of silky tannins that extend through the vaguely metallic finish. I’d drink this over the near term.
