The flagship release from this terrific estate, the 2021 Gigondas Le Pas De L’Aigle is almost all Grenache (there is 10% Syrah) that sees a longer élevage in foudre. This beauty has a gorgeous nose of ripe black raspberries, blackberries, sandalwood, and Provençal garrigue. While it plays in the more medium-bodied, fresher style of the vintage, it has terrific mid-palate depth, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. The 2021 vintage in Gigondas doesn’t get much better, and this has tons of appeal today yet will evolve nicely for a solid decade.
